Pretty Place, aka Fred Symmes Chapel
Fred W. Symmes Chapel is part of the YMCA Camp Greenville. The building was given by Mr. Fred W. Symmes for the enjoyment of the boys and girls who camp here each summer and is the spiritual center of the camp. Camp Greenville has been in existence since 1912 and covers 1400 acres. It is a year-round operation serving as a summer camp, environmental education center, group and conference center, and wedding venue. Camp Greenville welcomes visitors to enjoy the beauty of the Chapel during daylight except when it is in use for campers’ Sunday and Monday morning worship services, or for another reserved event (weddings, dedications, memorial services, etc.)Pretty Places is one of the more popular wedding venues in the area, and a because of its beauty, a pretty popular tourist attraction. Cedar Mountain Cafe is a short 1.5 miles from the turn-off for the YMCA and a great place for breakfast or lunch before hand, or for wedding receptions and family dinners. Whistle Stop
A minute or so down the road, Whistlestop Market has been a destination for fresh local foods since 2003. They specialize in local produce, eggs, meats, seafood, cheeses, baked goods, prepared foods, honey, canned goods, plants and more. Definitely worth a visit for some great WNC artisan foods. Golf
Sherwood Forest and Connestee both have amazing golf courses that are open to the public.
The Sherwood Forest Golf Course is an 18 hole, par 3 course in an Audubon Sanctuary development located in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina. The course is fun and challenging for golfers of all ages and skill levels, Sherwood Forest Golf Course is 9 miles south of Brevard, North Carolina.Sherwood Forest is open to the public year-round and welcomes golfers of all ages.
